Interstate Offers Thermal Diagnostic Imaging

Interstate Electrical Services Corporation’s electrical services group is now offering infra-red diagnostic imaging as a preventative maintenance service.? This inexpensive, pro-active diagnostic service enables building owners and property managers to safeguard against electrical failures - from simple power outages to explosive short circuits; by detecting abnormal hot spots in electrical equipment before the failure occurs.

Infra-red or thermal diagnostic imaging is a relatively simple process that can be done without service disruption.? Trained Interstate technicians use a thermal camera to take infra-red images of each piece of electrical equipment.? The images are analyzed by Interstate’s in-house electrical engineers who then prepare a detailed report that includes; the images, temperature readings, measured load vs rated load, a list of recommended actions and a quote for recommended repairs.

“Insurance companies often require commercial and industrial property owners to conduct infra-red inspections of all major electrical systems in an effort to reduce the risk of fire and other material damage that can result from major electrical component failure,” commented John Sloane, Vice President of Service for Interstate’s Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Connecticut offices.?
